5 Home Remedies the Treat Age Spots
1. Lemons are good because of the citric acid, which acts as a bleaching agent. Dab the lemon juice on your skin and rinse off after 30 minutes. Use it twice a day.
2. Apple cider vinegar contains alpha hydroxy acids, which lighten the age spots. Apply the cider once day for 20 minutes and then rinse. If your skin is sensitive to the cider, then dilute it with water.
3. Papaya contains enzymes and hydroxy acids which exfoliate the skin. Slice the papaya and place the fleshy part on the skin. Rinse the skin after 15 to 20 minutes.
4. Buttermilk contains lactic acid, which lightens the skin. Put some buttermilk on a cotton ball and place on the dark spots for 15 to 20 minutes daily. Then rinse the buttermilk off your skin. If you have oily or acne prone skin, mix the buttermilk with lime or tomato juice.
5. Yogurt also contains lactic acid, which also removes dead skin cells. Put the yogurt on the dark spots and let it dry for 20 minutes before rinsing. Use this a few times a week.
Of course results may vary and you should keep any food allergies in mind before using any of the above foods. For those of you who have food allergies, there"s always the over the counter creams and serums that get rid of or reduce age spots. Whatever you decide to use to get rid of the spots, make sure you use a day cream with an SPF to prevent your skin from developing more.
