Prepare Your Skin For The Coming Winter
Summer is over and winter is on it's way. Many women suffer from dry skin during the winter months. It can be frustrating and make your skin look older if you don't take action and change a few things in your life. Here are four steps you can take to help avoid dry skin when it's cold outside.
Humidifier
Using a humidifier to moisten the air in the room can stop your skin from drying out when it's cold. A cool air humidifier will work best. Sometimes we keep the heat high in our homes when it's cold outside. The higher the heat, the dryer the air will be inside. Use a humidifier in the room where you will be spending most of your time.
Your Diet
What you eat can have a profound effect on your health as well as your skin. Foods high in fat could help prevent your skin from drying out. Foods like fish, nuts, avocados, olive oil and sweet potatoes are good for helping you to moisturize from the inside out. Try to eat them as much as possible during the winter months.
Exfoliate
Exfoliating your skin with a gentle scrub will help to get rid of dry skin. You should exfoliate 2 or 3 times a week. Do not exfoliate if your skin is extremely dry. Use a soft cloth with a cleanser instead. Getting rid of the dry skin is key to helping to keep your face moisturized.
Skin Care
A daily skin care routine is a must for keeping your skin healthy. Your routine should include cleansing, treatments and moisturizing. Treatments, like serums should be used all year round and put on your skin before the moisturizer. Moisturizers should be used day and night and the day cream should contain SPF, for protection from the sun.
Taking care of your skin when it's cold outside, can keep it looking younger and healthier longer. The steps mentioned above are pretty easy to follow. Always remember that you should take care of your skin all year round, because every season has it's challenges.
