8 Tips to Help with Dry Skin This Winter

In the winter time I noticed that my skin tends to be very dry, and I need to take extra care if I want to stop it from getting to dry. Before I started to do research, I didn't realize how many mistakes I was making with my skin care. In fact I was told, in some cases, to do the opposite of what was good for my skin. Well here is the list of things you can do, this winter, to help you.

  1. Keep showers short and use warm water. Hot water will dry out the skin.
  2. After you bathe or shower, pat yourself dry. Never rub your skin.
  3. It's always best to moisturize right after you take your shower or bath. Make sure your moisturizer has ingredients like silicone or petroleum jelly to help trap in the moisture. Creams may be better than lotions.
  4. If you're using an anti-aging cream, don't use creams with retinoid or AHA's. They can irritate the skin.
  5. Work from the inside out by eating omega 3 acids, either from food or pills.
  6. Look for skin cleansers with oatmeal and chamomile. Fragrances and additives can dry out the skin.
  7. Use serums under your facial moisturizers. Vitamin C serums are good for fighting sun spots and fine lines.
  8. Limit your intake of alcohol, caffeine and coffee. Increase the fats you eat like eating walnuts and olive oils.
Of course there are other ways to help your skin when it's dry, and I hope the 8 that are listed are helpful. As always you can start taking care of your skin by eating healthy. Also moisturize your skin regularly and avoid using products that will strip your skin of it's natural oils. I hope this list is helpful.
