5 High Fiber Foods That Can Help You Lose Weight

As a Mother of three and a Grandmother, I have struggled for years to lose the weight I gained when I was pregnant. I tried many of that horrible four letter word...diet. I must say that the one diet that was most successful, included high fiber foods. Experts recommend that you read labels and look for foods that have at least 2.5 grams of fiber, to be considered a good source. Many fruits and vegetables fall in this category.

Here's a list of 5 foods that are high in fiber and can help you lose weight.

  1. Apples
  2. Green Beans
  3. Sweet Potatoes
  4. Strawberries
  5. Chickpeas

When I was on a high fiber diet, I managed to lose 19 pounds. It did work well for me, but I had to stop, because I found out I was pregnant. Since then, I have not tried to do the high fiber again, which is probably a mistake. I am currently trying Intermittent Fasting, which does seem to work, but slowly. I know that if I want to lose weight faster, then I would be more successful increasing my fiber intake.

Another advantage to a high fiber diet is that soluble fiber helps to lower your cholesterol. They also help to regulate your blood sugar levels. Insoluble fiber helps to aid your digestive system. It helps to move food through your digestive system. And one of the best benefits is, since fiber expands in your body when exposed to liquids, they help you feel full longer.
