5 Things You Can Do To Lose Weight When Your Over 40

As a mother and woman over 40, I have struggled for years to lose the weight that I gained when I was pregnant. It seems that no matter what I did, I failed to really shed any pounds. Everywhere I looked, I would see information stating that it was difficult for women to lose weight after a certain age. Me being the type of person that loves to do research, I decided to do some checking.
After doing some research and following some of the tips, I found that losing weight is not so impossible for women my age. I have managed to shed some pounds, although I have not reached my weight loss goal yet. The things I have learned did help, but I need to do more.Here are 5 tips that can help you loose weight as well as get into better shape.
- Eat more vegetables and fruit. Besides the nutritional value you get from eating more, you also get the benefit of the fiber that helps you to feel full longer.
- Cut down on the carbs. Carbs convert to sugar in your body and your body should be working on burning fat not sugar. Whenever I load up on carbs, I fail to lose weight.
- Build muscle. You tend to lose muscle as you get over 40. Building muscle will help you get in shape, but muscle also burns more calories.
- Try grilling, broiling or baking your foods. This will still add flavor, without having to fry or slather your food in or with fat.
- Eat less at night. I do Intermittent Fasting and it works for me. The idea is to give yourself a minimum of 10 hours between dinner and breakfast the next day. Your body goes into ketosis and begins to burn fat.
Of course there are others things you can do to help you lose weight once your get over 40. One factor that is very important is getting enough sleep. You are more likely to gain weight if you don't get enough sleep. I myself like to use Intermittent Fasting and have managed to lose weight since I started, but I have noticed that I don't lose weight if I don't get enough sleep.
