8 Plant-Based Foods That Can Help You Lose Weight
If your anything like me, you've been trying to lose weight, after having kids, for years. Since most of the diets I have tried have failed, I decided to do my own research. During my research, I learned the importance of protein in the diet. Like most people, I associated protein with meat.
But I did learn that there are plants that are also a good sources of protein. One of the differences between meat protein and plant-based protein, is that the plant-based protein is lower in calories. Also some vegetable that are are a good source of protein are also a good source of fiber. The great thing about fiber is that it will help you to feel full longer.
The body needs protein to help build and repair itself, and and some of the proteins should also contain amino acids. Since amino acids are essential to good health, and if you want to substitute animal with plant-based protein, then you'll need to eat some plants that contain the essential amino acids or get your them elsewhere. Below, I listed plant-based foods that are high in protein and also contain the essential amino acids(Complete) and some that are just good sources of protein.
Complete Plant-Based Proteins:
- Soybeans
- Quinoa
- Buckwheat
Plant-Based Proteins:
- Nuts
- Seeds (Pumpkin, Sunflower)
- Beans
- Avocado
- Dark Leafy Greens (Spinach, Kale, Collard Greens)
If your looking to get protein without the high calories, then look into some plant-based foods. You'll be able to get your protein and nutrients along with low calories and feeling full longer.
